Shaznay Martin

Shaznay Martin is a Black British writer and journalist from South London. Dubbing herself a “(screen)writer”, Shaznay is eager to help change the landscape for Black female and non-binary representation by scripting a spectrum of stories for television and film.

Having a degree in English and Film from the University of Sussex (2020), she is known for using her academic skills to critically analyse popular films or television shows, particularly in her frequent collaborations with esteemed platform Refinery29.

In 2022, Shaznay wrote and produced her first short film, gaze, which was officially selected to be a part of the BIFA-qualifying BFI Flare Festival in 2023.
