The project I want to apply with is in funded development with another company, can I still apply?

Yes, as long as you make it clear why this Lab will help you and that it is just you attending the Lab as the writer without input from your wider creative team.

Yes, but please bear in mind this Lab is purely writer focused.

I’m working with a director and/or producer on my project, can they attend the Lab?

No, this Lab is purely for writers and you must attend alone. However there may be networking events during the programme where we can extend an invite to your collaborators.

Can I have a meeting with you to discuss my project and see if it’s a good fit?

We are unable to take meetings about specific projects as it wouldn’t be fair on other applicants. If you have a question regarding eligibility that is not answered here then you can contact us and we will reply via email – darkroom@transonscreen.com

No.

Does my project have to be designed to be supported by BFI later down the line?

Can I apply with a short film?

No, this lab is exclusively for feature length film projects. Feature length projects should be intended to be at least over 70 minutes.

Can I apply with a feature idea that’s based on a short film that I’ve already made?

Yes, but we will need to see the short film and you will have to have a clear idea of why this would fit a feature length story.

Can I apply with a feature idea that’s based on a play or book etc that I’ve already made?

Yes, but you will need to hold the rights to that property and be clear on why this would fit a feature length story.

Will I receive feedback on my application?

We are unable to offer feedback on applications.
